Artist statement
I keep coming back to patterns.
There’s something about choosing colors, drawing lines, and repeating shapes that helps me make sense of the world. As a little order appears on the canvas, things grow a little quieter within me, too.
In Life on Patterns, I create a world, and then someone makes it their home. A fish, a dragonfly, a tiny beetle. Each brings a character of its own to a space I’ve carefully arranged.
In Flowers & Patterns, the movement goes the other way. The pattern enters the flower, following some of its shapes and interrupting others. Parts remain familiar, while others become hidden among the lines and colors.
Both series bring me back to the same curiosity: what happens when a world I’ve carefully arranged meets something living, imperfect, and unexpected?
